2012 Gym Resolution

By , January 11, 2012

It’s 2012 and if you’re in the gym because of a New Year’s resolution then you’re wasting your time. Weight loss and getting fit cannot be sustained by a mere resolution. When I used to be a fitness instructor and personal trainer, there was a staggering amount of people signing up to the gym with the excitement of a smaller waist and toner body.

By day one most people don’t know where to start and they begin to do everything…literally everything. Every cardio machine must be used and by the end of their workout, every weight machine will be tried and most likely poorly executed. They’ll do this for about two days straight until they find each muscle in their body is twitching in agony. I’ve seen people work out for two weeks straight until the excitement wears off because the have not seen the results they wanted.

So who’s to blame? Is it the gym for convincing people to sign up with their amazing deal? Or is it the people that wait for January 1st to make a life altering decision that have to be planned and then executed?

Well you’ve guessed it; it’s the people’s fault of course.  If your one of these people that I’m talking about then here’s what you can do. Sit down plan, write you’re food plan and workout plan. Give yourself time to rest during the week. Be patient and have fun. Find a dance class like Zumba or belly dancing. Grab a partner that will keep you motivated and is serious about this as much as you are.

There is no better resolution than to be happy, to help others and to love who you are in side and out.

Happy New Year!!!

Drug Companies Rx Your Omega 3s

By , April 21, 2010

For years, I have been singing the praises of pharmaceutical grade Omega 3 Fish Oils.

  • They’re anti-inflammatory
  • They’re good for your heart
  • They’re good for your joints
  • They’re good for a whole bunch of stuff that ails you

And they’re also good enough to have peaked the interest of the bigwigs at GlaxoSmithKline.

For a couple of years now, GSK has been producing a Omega 3 fish oil product called lovaza.

Lovaza is a concentrated fish oil (high in EPA & DHA) designed to help lower triglycerides.

Kind of like Ascenta Nutra-Sea or Nordic Naturals.

In fact, it’s almost identical to the high potency versions already availablein the supplement market.

So, why should you choose to get your Omega 3s from GlaxoSmithKline instead of from Ascenta or Nordic Naturals or one of the other high-end supplement companies that have been spreading the fish-oil gospel for years and years?

Maybe because your doctor told you to.

And there’s the problem.

Unlike the supplement companies peddling fish oil in the free market, GSK has bypassed the free market and attempted to corner the Omega 3 market with the help of their best salesman – your doctor.

Not to mention their massive advertising budgets.

And the deep pockets required to sell product at a loss in order to drive competitors out of business.

.

But that would never happen.

The Taco Bell Drive-Thru Diet….weight loss miracle or a great big load of corporate bullsh*t?

By , January 8, 2010

Attention all overweight people of the planet Earth.

Your days of struggling with obesity & dieting are finally over.

Taco Bell is here to free you from your bonds of corpulence.

Forget about their infamous Fourth Meal or their 990 calorie Volcano Nachos or their 900 calorie Chicken Ranch Taco Salad or their 640 calorie Grilled Stuft Steak Burrito.

Forget about all of that stuff. None of that matters anymore.

Because, Taco Bell has decided to kick Jared’s butt and become America’s Weight Loss Champion.

And they’re going to do it with their new Drive-Thru Diet.

Hmmm…what do you think of that?  54 pounds is nothing to sneeze at. Maybe they’re onto something.

Let’s hear some more about the Drive-Thru Diet

Sounds great, doesn’t it?

But before we make up our minds, maybe we should get the opinion of a medical expert…

Hmmm, now I’m confused.

Maybe, we should hear from an actual Taco Bell customer…

That was interesting.

The morbidly obese Taco Bell customer thinks that the diet is a manipulative piece of corporate bullsh*t.

Ain’t irony grand.

BTW, you gotta love the Princess Leia poster in the background…classic.
