The Truth about Diet Sodas…Will it really Make You Fat?
There are not facts that can state that drinking diet soda is healthy. On the contrary of what people might think, there are more studies that reveal devoted diet soda drinkers are fatter than those who drink regular soda.
University of Texas studied developed an 8 year study on this topic.
Here are a few quotes from the study creator:
“What didn’t surprise us was that total soft drink use was linked to overweight and obesity,” Fowler tells WebMD. “What was surprising was when we looked at people only drinking diet soft drinks, their risk of obesity was even higher.”
“There was a 41 percent increase in risk of being overweight for every can or bottle of diet soft drink a person consumes each day,” Fowler says.
This study concludes that not only regular soda is bad for us but that diet soda can make us fatter.
There are a few reasons for why this would happen:
- The use of artificial sweeteners in diet sodas. They can develop a negative hormonal reaction within the body, which raise fat storing hormone production and can raise cravings for sweets and refined carbohydrates.
- Many people subconsciously believe that because they drink diet sodas, that this give them an advantage of eating more, therefore they’ll end up consuming more calories overall.
The truth is if you’re serious about your health and body, the any type of soda (even those with artificial sweetener especially) should always be avoided. Best way case scenario is to always carry a small bottle of water with you.
A great alternative besides water is hot tea (green, black, white, chai, etc) and on those warm days try a glass of unsweetened iced tea. So be creative and experiment with different flavors because there’s so many to choose from.
Many of us should agree by now that soda is commonly the most awful things we can put in out digestive system… the man made chemicals, the cheap high fructose corn syrup, and a numerous amount of health problems caused by this carbonated concoction. Unfortunately, a lot of people still believe that diet sodas are good for losing body fat.
